Landfill in Geneva to produce electricity

Waste Management announced in a press release yesterday that construction on the Geneva Landfill in Ashtabula County will enable the site to generate 6.4 megawatts of electricity – enough to power over 6,000 homes – from waste energy. Once the plant is operational by the end of this year, methane gas “will be channeled into engines that are used to create electricity,” which will go into the electrical power grid, the release said. For more, read the full press release here.
